Βέβαιο το ΝΑΤΟ πως η Τουρκία θα επικυρώσει το πρωτόκολλο προσχώρησης Φινλανδίας και Σουηδίας

Τη βεβαιότητα ότι η Τουρκία θα επικυρώσει το πρωτόκολλο προσχώρησης της Φινλανδίας και της Σουηδίας, εξέφρασε ο Γενικός Γραμματέας του ΝΑΤΟ, Γενς Στόλτενμπεργκ, κατά τη διάρκεια κοινής συνέντευξης Τύπου που παραχώρησε με τον Πρόεδρο της ΕΕ, Σαρλ Μισέλ και με την Πρόεδρο της Επιτροπής, Ούρσουλα φον ντερ Λάιεν, μετά την υπογραφή της κοινής δήλωσης ΕΕ-ΝΑΤΟ.

Κληθείς να σχολιάσει τις απαιτήσεις της Τουρκίας προκειμένου να επικυρώσει το πρωτόκολλο ένταξης της Φινλανδίας και της Σουηδίας, ο Γενς Στόλτενμπεργκ δήλωσε βέβαιος ότι η διαδικασία προσχώρησης θα ολοκληρωθεί και ότι η Τουρκία, όπως και η Ουγγαρία, θα το επικυρώσουν. Επανέλαβε για άλλη μια φορά ότι η Τουρκία έχει «θεμιτές ανησυχίες σχετικά με την ασφάλειά της» και πρόσθεσε ότι «κανένας άλλος Σύμμαχος του ΝΑΤΟ δεν έχει υποφέρει από την τρομοκρατία περισσότερο απ’ ό,τι η Τουρκία».

Ο Γ. Στόλτενμπεργκ τόνισε ότι η διαδικασία ένταξης της Φινλανδίας και της Σουηδίας είναι η ταχύτερη στη σύγχρονη ιστορία του ΝΑΤΟ. Υπενθύμισε ότι οι δύο χώρες υπέβαλαν αίτημα προσχώρησης τον Μάιο, ενώ τον Ιούλιο στη Μαδρίτη τα 30 κράτη-μέλη της Συμμαχίας κάλεσαν τις δύο χώρες προς ένταξη και σήμερα το πρωτόκολλο προσχώρησης των δύο χωρών έχει επικυρωθεί από τα 28 εκ των 30 κρατών-μελών του ΝΑΤΟ. Υπενθύμισε, επίσης, ότι τον Ιούλιο στη Μαδρίτη υπεγράφη συμφωνία μεταξύ της Τουρκίας, της Φινλανδίας και της Σουηδίας, βάσει της οποίας οι δύο υποψήφιες χώρες συμφώνησαν να άρουν τους περιορισμούς σε εξαγωγές όπλων -κάτι το οποίο έγινε- και να εργαστούν για την καταπολέμηση της τρομοκρατίας, κάτι το οποίο γίνεται και υπάρχει «στενή συνεργασία για να αντιμετωπιστεί».

Συνεχίζοντας, ο Γ. Στόλτενμπεργκ τόνισε ότι οι δύο Σκανδιναβικές χώρες έχουν λάβει διμερείς εγγυήσεις ασφαλείας από κάποια κράτη-μέλη, συμπεριλαμβανομένων και των ΗΠΑ. Πρόσθεσε, επίσης, ότι το ΝΑΤΟ έχει ενισχύσει την παρουσία του στην περιοχή και πως είναι «αδιανόητο» οι δύο χώρες να αντιμετωπίσουν στρατιωτική απειλή, χωρίς την αντίδραση της Συμμαχίας.

Ο ίδιος ανέφερε, τέλος, ότι η σύμπραξη ΕΕ-ΝΑΤΟ θα γίνει ακόμη πιο σημαντική όταν η Φινλανδία και η Σουηδία γίνουν πλήρη μέλη του ΝΑΤΟ.
